PROFILE
Established - On April 16, 1959, the City of Palos Heights was formed. Its first officials were elected on June 6, 1959 and the first annexation of new land came 19-days later. Palos Heights had begun to grow.
Governed – The City of Palos Heights is led by an elected Mayor and eight elected Aldermen all who serve four years. The current Mayor is Robert Straz and the current Aldermen are Jeffery Key and Don Bylut – Ward 1, Robert Basso and Jack Clifford – Ward 2, Brent Lewandowski and Heather Begley– Ward 3 and Michael McGrogan and Jerry McGovern – Ward 4.
Recreation Committee – The Recreation Committee is made up of four Aldermen. Recreation Committee meetings are held on the second Tuesday of every month, 7:00 pm at City Hall. Current Recreation Committee members are Alderman Key, Chairman, Alderman Begley, Alderman Clifford and Alderman Bylut.
Recreation Advisory Board – The Recreation Advisory Board is made up of Palos Heights Residents who are appointed to the Board by the Mayor. Recreation Advisory Board Meetings are held on the last Wednesday of every month, 11:30 am at the Recreation Center. Current Recreation Advisory Board Members are Lisa Pesavento, Tim Cronin, Gayle Greenwald, Denise Hyker, Lynda Schiappa, and two new members will be announced at the end of October.
